Tipp senden

If you have information about a story that matters to Sweden’s public life, we want to hear from you. This page explains how to share it with us safely and effectively, and what happens after you do. Whether you are a resident, a civil servant, a business leader or a researcher, your tip can help Gegenwart24 deliver the trustworthy Swedish journalism we promise in our editorial mission.

What makes a good tip?

A good tip is specific, verifiable and relevant to our readers in Sweden and internationally. We prioritise policy developments, public-interest stories, riksdagen and regeringen actions, municipal politik, wirtschaft news, economy, culture and society with clear Swedish relevance.

We look for original documents, firsthand accounts, evidence of waste, fraud or abuse, important legislative changes, local government decisions affecting communities, economic trends and cultural shifts. Avoid speculation or unsubstantiated claims – the stronger your evidence, the faster we can act. Even a small detail that seems trivial may unlock a larger pattern, so do not hesitate to send it.

How to reach us?

You can send your tip to tips@gegenwart24.de, or for less sensitive general news ideas use newsdesk@gegenwart24.de. Press inquiries go to press@gegenwart24.de.

Our editorial team monitors these addresses closely. You can also call our Swedish editorial line on +49 30 577 013 49 for urgent matters. If you have a correction, please send it directly to corrections@gegenwart24.de under our corrections policy. For general questions, use info@gegenwart24.de.

What should you include in your tip?

Include as much concrete detail as you can: the key facts, your source of information, any supporting documents or links, and your contact details if you are willing to be reached. Context helps us assess urgency and importance.

Provide dates, names, places and relevant laws or policies. Explain why you think the matter is in the public interest. If you have documents, describe them briefly and note whether you can share copies. Do not send encrypted files without prior arrangement – plain text or standard attachments are fine. We cannot promise to follow up on every tip, but we read all submissions and treat them seriously.

How do we verify your tip?

Our standards desk, led by fact-checking editor Helena Graf, reviews every tip against our verification procedures. You can read our full standards at /fact-checking-policy/ and /sources/.

We cross-check information with public records, multiple sources and our own reporting. We may contact you for further details or clarification. We never publish anything without thorough fact-checking, and we will corroborate your information independently before using it. The process may take time, but accuracy is our priority.

Will my identity be kept confidential?

We treat all tipsters with respect and will protect your confidentiality to the fullest extent possible under Swedish and international law. We never disclose sources without explicit permission, except when legally compelled.

If you prefer to remain anonymous, you do not have to give your name. However, we need a way to contact you for verification purposes – a temporary email address or a secure messaging handle is enough. We recommend using encrypted email for sensitive material. Your identity will not be shared outside our editorial team, and we will take every reasonable step to safeguard it.

What happens after I submit a tip?

Your tip is logged and reviewed by the relevant editor. If it meets our editorial criteria, we may contact you for more information and begin reporting. If not, we may still keep it on file for future context.

We aim to acknowledge receipt within 48 hours. Because of the volume we receive, we cannot guarantee a detailed follow-up on every tip. If we publish a story based on your information, we will contact you beforehand if possible. You can also submit corrections at any time to corrections@gegenwart24.de under our corrections policy.

How this works in practice

Imagine you are a municipal employee in Malmö and you notice that a local contractor has been overbilling the city for services that were never performed. You have copies of invoices and internal emails. You send an email to tips@gegenwart24.de with a summary of the overbilling scheme, the invoice numbers and your contact information. Our politikredaktör Oliver Fuchs reviews the tip, contacts you for a confidential conversation and works with the fact-checking desk to verify the documents. After corroboration with public procurement records and interviews, we publish a story that leads to a city audit. Your identity remains confidential throughout.
