Werbe- & Affiliate-Hinweise

This page explains how Gegenwart24 funds its journalism and what that means for you as a reader. We believe transparency about our commercial relationships is essential to maintaining your trust. Here you will find clear information about advertising, affiliate links, sponsored content and our editorial independence.

What does this mean for you?

When you see an advertisement or an affiliate link on gegenwart24.de, it helps us cover the costs of producing trustworthy Swedish news. Your experience of the content remains the same: every article is written, edited and fact-checked by our human team before publication.

We never allow commercial considerations to influence what we publish. Our editorial decisions – what to cover, how to frame a story, which sources to use – are made independently by our editors and reporters, led by Chefredaktör Christian Müller. Sponsored content is clearly labelled so you can always tell the difference between editorial and commercial material. For full details, see our Sponsored Content Policy.

How does Gegenwart24 fund its journalism?

Gegenwart24 relies on a mix of display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing. Our parent company, Gegenwart24 Media Ltd., registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry), ensures the operation is sustainable without compromising editorial standards.

We publish a detailed breakdown of our ownership and funding sources on the Ownership & Funding page. All commercial arrangements are governed by strict policies that prevent advertisers or partners from having any say in our news coverage. Our fact-checking team, led by Helena Graf, verifies all editorial content independently of any external influence.

What are affiliate links and how do they work?

An affiliate link is a special web address that allows us to earn a small commission if you click through and make a purchase from a partner retailer. This does not change the price you pay – the commission comes from the retailer, not from you.

When we include an affiliate link in an article, we always disclose it clearly, usually with a note near the link or at the end of the piece. Our reporters and editors never choose products or services to recommend based on affiliate potential. The decision to mention any product is driven solely by editorial relevance. If you have any questions about a specific link, please contact our advertising team at advertising@gegenwart24.de or our partnerships team at partnerships@gegenwart24.de.

How this works in practice

Imagine our Wirtschaftreporter Anna Roth writes an article about energy prices in Sweden. In the article she compares several household electricity providers and includes a link to a price-comparison service. If that link is an affiliate link, it will be marked with a brief disclosure – for example, “This link is an affiliate link; we may earn a commission if you sign up.” Anna’s analysis of the market is based on publicly available data and her own reporting, not on any agreement with the comparison site. The fact-checking team verifies all figures before publication. The commission earned helps fund the next investigation but never shapes the conclusion.

Similarly, if you see a display advertisement for a bank on our site, that bank has purchased ad space through our commercial team. The ad placement does not affect our coverage of the financial sector. Our Politikredaktör Oliver Fuchs will continue to report on regulation and consumer protection without interference.

Who owns and operates Gegenwart24?

Gegenwart24 is an independent digital news publisher owned and operated by Gegenwart24 Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry) with its registered office at Office 9, Business Centre, Valletta, 0000. The company is managed separately from its commercial partners, and editorial control rests solely with the newsroom.

Our editorial independence is safeguarded by a formal Editorial Policy that all staff and freelancers must follow. The policy states that no advertiser, sponsor or partner may influence the selection, framing or timing of any news article. Any material that is sponsored or commercially produced is clearly labelled and kept in a separate section of the site, governed by the Sponsored Content Policy.

How can you get in touch about advertising or partnerships?

We welcome enquiries from potential advertisers and partners. Please email our commercial team at advertising@gegenwart24.de for display advertising and at partnerships@gegenwart24.de for content partnerships, sponsored content and newsletter sponsorships. For general enquiries, use info@gegenwart24.de.

If you have a complaint about a commercial message or believe an advertisement violates our standards, please contact our fact-checking team at factcheck@gegenwart24.de or use our formal Complaints Procedure. We take all feedback seriously and will investigate promptly.

In short

Gegenwart24 is funded transparently through advertising, affiliate links and partnerships, but no commercial relationship ever determines what we publish. Every article you read is produced independently by our human editorial team and fact-checked before going live. If you ever have a question about a specific link or ad, just reach out – we are here to help.
