This page explains the editorial standards you can expect from every article on Gegenwart24. We are a Swedish news publisher owned by Gegenwart24 Media Ltd., and our mission is to deliver trustworthy journalism that helps you understand complex issues without spin or oversimplification. The policy below sets out exactly how we produce, label and review our content, and how you can hold us accountable.
What does our editorial process look like?
Every article on Gegenwart24 is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by an editor and fact-checked before publication. This three-step process applies to all content – news, analysis, features and opinion – regardless of length or format. For example, a short economy brief written by Anna Roth will be checked by the editor-in-chief Christian Müller or the newsroom head Karin Bergström, then fact-checked by Helena Graf’s team before it goes live.
The editorial team works from our newsroom in Stockholm. Christian Müller, as Chefredaktör, is responsible for final publication decisions and any corrections. Our reporters cover the Riksdag, government and municipal politics (Oliver Fuchs), the economy and markets (Anna Roth), and culture and society (Martin Schumacher). No article is published without human editorial approval.
How do we distinguish news, opinion and other content?
We label each piece clearly so you always know what you are reading. News articles are presented as straightforward factual reporting. Opinion pieces – such as columns or commentary – are marked with a label such as “Meinung” or “Kommentar” and the writer’s byline makes clear that the views are their own. Features and analysis pieces combine reporting with context but remain rooted in verified facts.
Sponsored content and commercial partnerships are always labelled “Sponsoring” or “Anzeige” in the article header, and affiliate links are disclosed at the point of use (usually within the text or in a note at the bottom). The commercial team never influences editorial conclusions. You can read our full policies on ownership and funding and advertising and affiliate disclosure.
How we ensure transparency at the article level
Each article includes the writer’s name, their role and a direct email address. Publication dates are shown, and if an article is corrected after publication we add a dated correction notice at the bottom. Any use of AI-assisted tools – for example, to generate a first draft or to produce a summary – is disclosed in a brief note within the article. That note always states that a human editor reviewed and approved the final version.
We also link to supporting sources where possible. For policy articles you will often find references to official government documents, reports from Statistics Sweden (SCB) or central bank data. Our fact-checking policy explains how we verify claims.
How this works in practice
Suppose Anna Roth writes an article about rising consumer prices in Sweden. She drafts the piece based on data from SCB and interviews with economists. The draft is reviewed by Redaktionschef Karin Bergström, who checks for clarity and balance. Helena Graf’s fact-checking team then verifies every figure and quotation. If the article includes an affiliate link to a price-comparison tool, that link is marked with “Affiliate-Link” at the point of appearance. The article is published under Anna Roth’s byline with a date, and a note at the bottom says “Dieser Artikel wurde mit Unterstützung von KI-Tools erstellt und von der Redaktion geprüft” if AI assisted. Should a reader later spot an error, they contact our complaints procedure and we publish a correction within two working days.
Who owns Gegenwart24 and how are we funded?
Gegenwart24 is owned and operated by Gegenwart24 Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry). Our registered office is Office 9, Business Centre, Valletta, 0000. The company was founded in 2024 and is independent; no external shareholder, advertiser or sponsor has editorial control. Revenue comes from display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing. All sponsored or commercial material is clearly labelled, and commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions. For details see our ownership and funding page.
How we use artificial intelligence
AI-assisted tools may support our journalists with research, editing, formatting, translation, metadata, headline options, summaries and transcription. However, AI never replaces human editorial judgement. No piece is published without a human editor’s review, and we never use AI to fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines, author experience or expert profiles. Every article that involves AI assistance carries a disclosure. You can read our full AI and automation policy.
Who writes for us and how can you hold us accountable?
All our writers are named, and their roles and contact details are listed on our team page. The Chefredaktör Christian Müller is responsible for editorial standards. If you believe an article contains an error, please use our complaints procedure. We also have a dedicated fact-checking team led by Helena Graf (emma.sandberg@gegenwart24.de) for source verification and corrections.
In short
Our editorial policy is built on transparency, named writers and human oversight at every stage. You can trust that every piece you read has been checked for accuracy and that any commercial or AI involvement is clearly disclosed. If something doesn’t meet those standards, we want to know so we can put it right.
